Four Seasons Resort Seychelles occupies the hillside and beach of Petite Anse, a small sheltered bay in the Baie Lazare district of south-west Mahé. Opened in 2009, it is built as villas set among the trees on the slope, each with its own sundeck and plunge pool, with a spa at the top of the hill and the beach at the bottom.

Best for

Honeymooners and couples who want privacy and a pool of their own; families who value a supervised kids’ programme and multi-bedroom suites; groups and extended families who need a residence villa with staff; travellers who want a resort stay on Mahé itself, close to the airport, rather than a transfer to another island.

It is not a place for travellers looking for a lively beach scene, independent restaurants within walking distance or a low-cost base for touring. The resort is self-contained by design, and the surrounding coast is quiet.

Location

The listed coordinates place the resort at Petite Anse, about 2 km in a straight line from the Baie Lazare anchor used in our South Mahé guide and roughly 11 km in a straight line from Seychelles International Airport; the resort’s own fact sheet gives the road journey as about 30 minutes. Victoria is about 15 km away in a straight line. The south-west coast is one of the quieter corners of Mahé.

Rooms and style at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles

The core accommodation is a set of villas of about 186 to 205 square metres, each with a private sundeck and plunge pool, positioned for garden, ocean or hilltop ocean views. Two- and three-bedroom suites with infinity pools add space for families, and residence villas of three to eight bedrooms come with a full kitchen and staff. Because villas climb the hillside, position matters: hilltop villas give the widest views, while lower villas are closer to the beach. Ask where a given category sits on the slope before you book.

Facilities at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles

Le Syel Spa has eight treatment rooms at the highest point of the resort, looking out over the Indian Ocean. Dining runs across several restaurants and bars, which the listing counts as five restaurants, from Japanese and pan-Asian menus to grills and seafood. There is a fitness facility, a supervised Kids for All Seasons programme and a range of water and land activities, including diving, snorkelling, kayaking, sailing and hiking. In short, almost everything a stay needs is on site.

Who should consider Four Seasons Resort Seychelles

Consider it if your trip is built around rest rather than touring, if a private pool and a quiet bay matter more than a long beach, or if you are combining a few nights on Mahé with Praslin, La Digue or an outer island and want the Mahé part to feel like a resort holiday in its own right. It also works for a final stay before an international flight, given the short drive to the airport.

Trade-offs, honestly

No property suits every trip, and Four Seasons Resort Seychelles is a better fit for some than others. These are the points worth weighing before you book.

Price positioning. This is a top-tier resort and is priced accordingly, with dining and activities adding to the room rate. It makes sense when the resort itself is the purpose of the trip, less so as a base for exploring.

Hillside layout. Villas are spread up a steep slope, so the walk between your villa, the beach and the spa can be considerable. Guests with limited mobility should ask how villas are reached and which positions are easiest.

Isolation. Petite Anse is quiet and the resort is self-contained, so in practice most meals are taken on site unless you have a car.

A small bay. The beach is a sheltered cove rather than a long strand. Guests who want miles of sand will drive to other beaches on the south and west coasts.

Getting there and getting around

Seychelles International Airport is about 11 km away in a straight line, and the resort gives the road transfer as about 30 minutes. Taxis and hire cars are the practical options for leaving the resort for getting out; buses serve the main coast road. A car for a day or two is the easiest way to see the rest of Mahé, including Victoria, Beau Vallon and the mountain roads through the national park.

How Four Seasons Resort Seychelles compares

Against the hotels of Beau Vallon, it trades a lively beach and nearby restaurants for privacy and space. Against guest houses on the east coast near Anse Royale, it offers far more on site but much less local character and at a far higher cost. Against outer-island resorts such as Desroches, it gives a similar self-contained resort experience without a charter flight, with the rest of Mahé within reach by car.

Practical notes for a stay at Four Seasons Resort Seychelles

The south-west coast is well placed for some of Mahé’s quieter beaches, including Anse Soleil and Anse Intendance, and for scenic drives across the island. A car makes these easy to combine with a resort stay.

Seychelles has two broad monsoon seasons, and sea conditions on any given beach change with them. Ask the resort which beaches and water activities are best during your dates.

If you are combining islands, plan the inter-island ferry or flight around the transfer time from the south of Mahé, which is longer than from Victoria-side hotels.
