La Digue Island Lodge is a beachfront hotel at Anse Réunion on the west coast of La Digue, just south of La Passe, where the ferries arrive. It offers a wide spread of room types from garden rooms to beach chalets and villas.
Best for
Couples and families who want a beach hotel with a pool and restaurant on La Digue; travellers who want to cycle to Anse Source d’Argent and L’Union Estate, which lie just along the coast; groups who need a two-bedroom suite or villa rather than separate rooms.
It suits travellers less well if they want the intimacy of a three or four-room guest house, which is the more typical La Digue stay.
Location
The listed coordinates place the lodge on the shore at Anse Réunion, about 3.5 km in a straight line from the centre point of La Digue used in our guides. The harbour at La Passe is a short way to the north, and L’Union Estate, the entrance to Anse Source d’Argent, is a short way to the south. Another hotel, Le Repaire, stands about 75 metres away.
Rooms and style at La Digue Island Lodge
The listing shows an unusually wide mix: garden standard rooms, garden chalets, beach chalets, a double room in a beach house, a two-bedroom suite, an adults-only house, a two-bedroom beach villa named after L’Union Estate, and an apartment in an annex about 50 metres from the main hotel. Outlook and building vary a great deal between categories, so read the room description carefully.
Facilities at La Digue Island Lodge
The listing shows an outdoor swimming pool, a restaurant, a bar, beachfront access and family rooms. On La Digue, where many guests eat at a handful of local restaurants, an on-site restaurant and bar is a practical advantage.
Trade-offs and what to know
Because the categories range from beach chalets to an annex apartment away from the main building, two guests at the same lodge can have very different stays. The west-coast beach here is calm and convenient but is not one of the island’s famous photo beaches, which you will reach by bike. Expect day visitors to pass along the coast road towards L’Union Estate.
Getting there and getting around
La Digue has no airport. Ferries run from Praslin, a crossing of about 15 minutes, and from Mahé via Praslin, arriving at La Passe close to the lodge. On the island most visitors get around by bicycle or on foot, with a small number of electric taxis and buggies for luggage and longer trips.
