Best for
Best suited to independent travellers and families who prefer to self-cater and travellers who want to be close to the water. Check that its location matches how you plan to spend your days before you book.
Location
The listing gives the address as Carana, North Coast Road, Anse Etoile. Its map pin puts it about 3.4 km in a straight line from Beau Vallon, about 11 km in a straight line from Seychelles International Airport and about 2.9 km from Victoria.
This is the part of Mahé where most visitors who want a beach and a choice of places to eat end up. Beau Vallon bay is the focus, while Bel Ombre, Glacis and the northern tip are quieter and more residential.
Rooms and style at caranavilla
The listing shows Three-Bedroom House. With a single category, what matters most is the unit’s position and outlook, so ask about them. For self-catering, confirm the kitchen equipment and where the nearest shop is.
Facilities at caranavilla
Facilities shown on the listing include beachfront, family rooms, free WiFi and free parking. In practice, parking is listed, which helps if you hire a car.
Trade-offs and what to know
Beau Vallon can be busy by day, and sea conditions on the north-west coast change with the monsoon seasons. Self-catering means shopping for groceries, which in Seychelles can be limited outside the larger villages. Sea and weather conditions vary with the south-east and north-west monsoons, so ask the property what to expect on your dates.
Getting there and getting around
International flights arrive at Seychelles International Airport on the east coast of Mahé. Buses cover most of the island, and hire cars (driving on the left) or taxis give more freedom.
